The English Reading Test component of your N-400 naturalization interview is highly structured and entirely predictable. The USCIS officer will show you a sentence on a digital tablet screen or a physical piece of paper and ask you to read it out loud.

To pass, you must read exactly ONE out of THREE sentences correctly. The vocabulary words are drawn strictly from the official civic public list, containing simple historical names, locations, and legislative titles. There are no trick readings or advanced literary paragraphs.
