Understanding the N-400 English Writing Dictation Flow 🇺🇸

The N-400 English Writing Test measures your fundamental ability to write basic sentences cleanly in English as an officer speaks. The processing agent will read an official sentence out loud up to three times, and you must write it onto a tablet device.

To secure a pass, you only need to write ONE out of THREE sentences correctly. Spacing, general legibility, and capturing core content words are what the officer marks. You do not need perfect creative prose; you just need to capture the exact structure dictated from the official word list.
