The Secret of N-400 Official Writing Vocabulary: Months & Numbers
June 4, 2026 · 1 min read
Did you know that out of all 12 months in the year, the USCIS official writing test list only includes 7? If you spend your late nights trying to memorize how to spell ‘January’ or ‘December’ for the dictation segment, you are burning valuable energy on words that will not be tested.
Lock down your spelling configuration for these specific official calendar months and numbers:
📅 The Only 7 Months: February, May, June, July, September, October, November.
🔢 The Core Numbers: One, Second, Fifty / 50, One hundred / 100.
For instance, the officer might dictate a historical milestone sentence such as: “Flag Day is in June” or “The United States has 50 states.” Notice that for numbers, the USCIS policy manual explicitly states you can write them out as words (fifty) or simply use the digits (50)—both are 100% correct!
Citizen Pass categorizes these quirks neatly in our smart flashcard library, saving you hours of study time by stripping away the noise.
